Festival du Cinema – for kids!
We spent this weekend going to the cinema. Yes, the weather’s BAD at the moment but also and mostly because the wonderful Monpremierfestival (My First Festival) took place this week in Paris. It’s actually still on until the 6th November.
What is it? About a dozen Parisian cinemas open their doors to a public from 2 to 12 years old and show old or new films/cartoons (from the Pixar standard to beautiful kid’s animations). This year’s festival was themed “Voyage” (Travel) with a focus on Japanese cartoons (here, I am thinking of Hayao Miyazaki and his GORGEOUS animation: The Castle in the Sky). There are about 100 films shown over a one week period, we saw two (my beloved Azur et Aznar and the previously mentioend Castle in the Sky). We also attended the opening with singer Mami Chan singing in her surreal ethereal style.
I have always adored the pictures, international and indie movies especially and was so happy to be able to share this with my son who really enjoyed the experience! xoxoxoxox
