Geraldine’s beautiful home – some great Parisian decoration styles

Elle Decoration November 2012Lorenz Baumer flat ELLEELLE Decoration

Geraldine de Fouquieres is a lovely woman and a very ambitious and hard working entrepreneur. She founded, along with my friend Stanislas, the Book a Flat venture (who’s interiors regularly feature on my Paris Interior Design Coups de Coeur (Favourites) every Thursday. I was lucky enough to meet her a a few weeks back and it was touching to see that such a busy woman still had the time to be human and kind with her team and very welcoming to me (and also to the Parishues blog project).

In this month’s French ELLE Decoration, surprise, the front cover and main article is actually on the topic of Geraldine’s and her husband, the jeweler Lorenz Baumer’s, beautiful Parisian flat.

I am loving the anti minimalist chic in her flat, the earthy colours mixed with beautiful authentic wooden panels and floors, the optical illusions creating shape where there was none. Designer ceramics by Yoichi Ohira accompany a gorgeous Paul Evans commode but that is reducing their living space down to the (many) designer names that decorate the flat.

More than anything, Lorenz experiments his artistic inspirtation on a larger scale using his flat and all it’s rooms as test areas for beautiful, experimental decors. With Geraldine’s good taste and view upon so many different and extraordinary Paris interiors (thanks to Book a Flat), she ads the touch of class and tradition that make their home Pop and Classic, all at once. Bravo Geraldine, thank you for sharing with me, with ELLE and with us all!!!
