Pretty “mariniere” stripes for french summer chic!
I keep a lot of my summer clothes as I always think that over the years, some classic items come back. Even if you don’t like the cut of the garment anymore, there is a lot you can do with it by altering it just a little!
This is a dress I found at Mango a few years ago, I love stripes and the “Mariniere” is the simple uniform to wear here in Paris. As a long sleeve t shirt striped mariniere with shorts or jeans and sandals or here as a total look dress. However remember that stripes are chic but very loaded, so try go easy on the accessories or what you wear with it (a jean jacket is a good simple accessory or a trench, but nothing blazer or jacket like to avoid the old fashioned frumpy look).
This dress was nice but I decided to pull it in at the waist a little by simply stitching (with a simple white thread and needle) the middle front, it actually worked really well and taylors the dress a little. You can use this little styling tip with t-shirts and all your straight dresses!
The shoes are vintage and my Ray Bans are classic black with super colourful button motif on the inside.
When in France, use the classic motifs, as they still work so well!
