Cazenave’s Hot Chocolate & cake parlour
It felt like I was lost in time, literally about 100 years ago at least. The beautiful glass ceiling shed a warm cozy light onto us, while my son and I tucked into our delicious frothy hot chocolate (the house’s speciality) with brioche, served in delicate flowery porcelaine cups and dishes.
Chocolat Cazenave is an institution in Bayonne and well known for it’s chocolates and beautiful vintage packaging. It was a very special moment, like reconnecting to a past that I wish I had known but am too young to have lived. Tea parlours have that thing about them, don’t they? Time capsules where we go back to Victorian cake eating, tea drinking bliss.
