Deluxe dinner on the ocean

Dinner on a warm night, on the ocean, sunset in front of you, the swell breaking on the shore, exeptional food.

Yup, this does exist and all at once.

We had dinner a few nights back at the super “haut de gamme” (top notch basically) restaurant Jean des Sables in Hossegor.

The atmosphere is warm, despite the stark decoration with it’s very neutral beige and white colours.

The setting is fabulous: a long room where nearly every indoor table has a view onto the beach and the ocean. You can also decide to eat on the terrace (where the view is even better) when the evening is warm.

The kitchen is open onto the dining area but the smells of the kitchen are kept far by clever discreet ventilation. However the luxury of watching your meal being cooked real-time is amazing!

The famous french chef Jean Coussau opened this restaurant in june 2010. He also has a really successful restaurant a couple of hours away from the coast called Le Relais de la Poste, attached to it’s own hotel.

I tasted octopus for starters, beautiful amazing Grouper fish freshly brought in by a local fisherman accompanies by coral purée and girolles mushrooms for main course and an amazing chocolate and armagnac soufflé for dessert.

Plus look at the view that accompanied us throughout the meal!

Breathtaking, simple and luxurious.
