Coup de coeur of the week Part 1: Little beauty – design inspiration for a small space

This beautiful little studio in the 13th arrondissement of Paris was gorgeous to visit! In an old classic Parisian building, it sits on the 5th floor with lovely views of Paris roofs and chimney tops.

I love tiny spaces, especially when the decoration respects the layout of the flat. This is a really long space we visited so, no big blocks or big tables in here. All the furniture is long, even the sofa is narrow so that you have space to walk around the living room. I loved the use of raw wood, it’s good to give some texture and lines to a small apartment by leaving some of the orignial wood and bricks aparent, even on the floor (like here, the floorboards are left light and bare and the staircase has not been painted over).

Colour is also important, dabs of fuschia and pale green armchairs have been placed so that the eye moves around the space. Of course rule number one is respected though: when in doubt, paint the walls white. I think it works pretty well and brightens up a small space, don’t you!?
