Treat yourself to a little luxury – Chateau de Brindos

Chateau de Brindos
This weekend I was treated (and the word is a total understatement) to a gorgeous, luscious, luxurious restaurant in an idyllic lakeside setting, based in a castle like edifice called Chateau de Brindos in Anglet (right near Biarritz, South West France).
Honestly, the room itself was enought of a treat. The high vaulted ceilings, the beautiful bay windows with views on the lake (where we were lucky enough to see cranes, trout and ducks galore) in an historical nearly medieval settins, were great details contributing to the luxury of the restaurant.
The service is obviously impeccable without it being snooty, the sommelier perfectly understanding our rather individual and fussy tastes too. We chose the 4 course meal which consists of smaller versions of any 4 dishes on the menu. Oyster tartare and its little croquette, Foie Gras with berry coulis, calamars and pealed peas in oyster espuma, langoustine and fresh strawberries with their sorbet and chocolate soufflet were some of the dishes we tried between us. The restaurant serves adequately portioned amuse bouche before and bewteen courses, which was amusing also and surprising sometimes.
The restaurant is actually attached to a hotel which we did not stay at but the rooms look impeccable and inspiring for any romance. One word: treat yourself and go (its not all that expensive compared to the quality).
