Shopping in Paris tip #1: Paris tea at your doorstep

Mariage Freres Paris Christmas tea Paris Mariage Freres Tea Paris I am partly British by birth. So tea is like, an everyday must have for me. Now let's get things straight: the French are great at discovering and making coffees of many sorts. But they have that ability to surprise you. These guys actually have one of the best ranges of teas I have ever tasted. Ever. So every Christmas I go to Read on...

Vintage tea with style

Like a lot of us, I like to drink tea. Lots of the liquid. However I do like to drink my tea in a proper tea cup. And I LOVE to organise tea parties for me and the girls. I was having a few girlfriends over this weekend and was setting up the table for them, before they arrived, and thought I would show you the result! Its great to mix differents tea sets, using a saucer from one, a cup from another... These sets of China were a gift from my great Aunts who were avid tea drinkers themselves. I then prepared biscuits (some home made cookies and some Chamonix Orange flavoured biscuits from here in France) on some little plates. They were all gone by the times the girls were done with them. Some Earl Grey in one tea pot and jasmin green tea in another. MMMmmmm... There's no taste quite like it xxxxxx vintage tea servicevintage tea cupvintage tea cups Read on...

Chic tea party in Paris

Tea party Tea parties for kids (and us adults too) are fun, really easy to prepare and don't have to be a hassle. Coloured plates, glasses, mint water and finger food make a good start. My friend Selena (super mother of one and hard working girl) had us over in her gorgeous white toned Parisian flat yesterday and she prepared beautiful roast chicken doused in gravy sauce, we served some home flavoured crisps (try buying the reduced salt kind and add drops of vinegar/ chilli pepper powder/ pepper/ thyme/ coriander). These personal versions of chips/crisps are gorgeous to eat and always a real success with children. We served Melon for those who wanted (good tip: to find ultra ripe melon, tap on the fruit itself, if it makes a hollow noise, its good to eat plus if it smells sweet too) and I prepared Chocolate & Chestnut fridge cake, something I adapted from a Nigella Lawson recipee. It went down almost immediately and entirely. We washed some of this down with my favourite organic herbal teas (Pukka teas). Special kiss to Selena and Ro for a beautiful beautiful day, merci les filles xxx my friend Selenatea parties for kids Read on...

Pukka (organic herbal teas)!

herbal teafavorite brand - Pukka I drink too much tea, so to stop me from over doing and suffering the side effects (nervoussness, impatience, wanting to run through the streets of Paris singing at the top of my lungs), I tend to drink herbal tea. I have it warm or as iced tea (which means I poor hot water into a thick heat resistant jug and put my bag in, leave it to cool then put in the fridge for a few hours - this is heavenly in summer). My favourite brand is the Pukka brand I get from my local organic food shop (Bio Coop) and the packaging is gorgeous too, so it makes the kitchen look fresh and pretty. The flavours are unique and my favourites are: 3 mints, 3 gingers and Refresh. Find them online and at all organic shops here. They really are refreshing, super tasty and really good for you too! Tea: yes but only Kusmi!

Green teasKusmi Tea Detox Kusmi I go to Kusmi Tea, rue des Rosiers, to stock up on my favourite perfumed green teas such as Almond, Jasmin and even Detox (very handy for the day after a festive night). Also addictive is their Rooibos and ranges of herbal tea, for night times. For all: poor hot water into a teapot or solid jug, spoon in a couple of teaspoons of tea and let Read on...
