Make your own organic Almond Milk
I’ve always been a fan of almond milk and loads of other non dairy milks too. I don’t really eat any dairy products and I jumped with joy when I discovered that I could make my own homemade almond milk with organic products! It’s full of antioxidants without nearly as many calories. It’s seriously about 60 calories per cup. You can make it for very little and save all the packaging cartons that go along with it and the money spent on organic products! Find your organic almons at your local health food store.
INGREDIENTS
1 cup | raw organic almonds |
4 cups | filtered water |
Pinch of sea salt | |
1 | vanilla pod |
3 tbsp | raw organicn honey (optional) |
PREPARATION:
- Soak the nuts in water for 12 hours. Rinse and drain the nuts at least once during this period.
- Combine the nuts with the filtered water in a blender. Break all the nuts down.
- Strain the mixture through a cloth. Add aw honey and vanilla your vanilla pod to the bottle/container. You can leave it in or take it out when you feel it is vanilla-ish enough and mix thoroughly with a spoon.
- The milk should keep for about five days and you can use it in your smoothies too mmmmmmmm!!!!
Does it have to be filtered water? Would regular tap water not work? Thanks for this recipe! So excited to try it! :)
Hi Caitlin! Bottled or filtered is better indeed, although regular tap would work but I like to keep the recipe as natural as possible with untreated ingredients! I hope you enjoy it! Kisses, Fiona
