Wine and one of the best Cave à Vins I know!
I adore going to my local wine merchant when here in the South West.
The name of the place is Dando in Soorts-Hossegor, about ten minutes inland from the coast by car.
They have a really big warehouse where all the wines are displayed. In the back is a special “cave” (cellar) for the “Grands Crus” (exceptional selections) at higher prices, it’s great to walk around there even if you can’t afford the bottles there. It’s so interesting to see what names and years and quoted the best.
The staff is really really helpful, they are there to guide you in whatever choice of wine and budget you are looking and you feel they really enjoy sharing their passion!
My favourite is Saint-Emilion (Bordeaux area) and Pouilly Fuissé (Burgundy): rather strong, earthy red wines. You don’t HAVE to pay big bucks to actually buy some decent wine and the staff here are a great help with that too, advising what names to pick. It’s a great shop and a great cultural experience!
Chin chin!!!
